After exploring Vancouver, you're faced with a decision: Where to next? This chapter cov-
ers three of the options, while a fourth, Vancouver Island, is covered in the previous chapter.
Your choice of direction is dependent on two main elements: the time of year and your in-
terests. The first option is to jump aboard a ferry for the Sunshine Coast. Rather than back-
tracking, plan on catching a ferry from Powell River across to Vancouver Island (make the
detour to delightful Lund before you do). Of course, you can make this loop by traveling
in the opposite direction—from Vancouver Island to Powell River and down to Vancouver
via charming seaside towns like
Gibsons.
One important thing to remember is that travel
along this strip of coastline takes a lot longer than you may imagine from looking at a map,
mostly due to two unavoidable ferry rides.
