Saturday. Postal Station A (757 W. Hastings St.) and the branch at Bentall Centre (595
Burrard St.) are also open Monday through Saturday.
Visitors can have their mail sent to them c/o General Delivery, Postal Station A, Van-
couver, BC V3S 4P2, Canada. The West Hastings Street post office will hold the mail for

Libraries
The Vancouver Public Library (350 W. Georgia St., 604/331-3600, 10am-9pm Mon.-
Thurs., 10am-6pm Fri.-Sun.) is a magnificent nine-story facility that was completed in
1995—a far cry from the city's first library, which opened with a grant of £250 back in
1887. Its elliptical facade contains a glass-walled promenade rising six stories above a row
of stylish indoor shops and cafés. Once inside, you'll soon discover that the city also found
enough money to stock the shelves; the library holds more than one million books. To help
you find that one book you're searching for, use the self-guided tour brochure available at
the information desk.
Newspapers and Periodicals
Vancouver's two newspapers are The Province ( www.theprovince.com ) , published daily
except Saturday, and the Vancouver Sun ( www.vancouversun.com ) , published daily except
Sunday. Both are published by the same company, Postmedia Network ( www.canada.com ) ,
with The Province more tabloid-driven than the Sun. Both are available at newsstands and
vending machines throughout the city for less than a buck. Canada's two national dailies,
the Globe and Mail and the National Post, are both based in Toronto but are readily avail-
able in Vancouver.
