Area size chart
Data variables : 1 x categorical, 1 x quantitative-ratio.
Visual variables : Area, color-hue.
Description : This type of chart doesn't have an obvious name, so Area size chart is
a best attempt! It is a very simple visual device that deploys the visual variable of
area—normally a rectangle or circle—to compare two (or maybe several) values.
Normally these values will vary in size quite dramatically to convey a certain shock
at the disparity. The subject matter may relate to a part-of-a-whole comparison
(portion judgment) but more typically involves separate, independent categories
(comparative judgment).
