In-Depth Information
Museum at Campbell River
The local information center will help out with basic fishing and boat charter inform-
ation, or head to the experts at the River Sportsman (2115 Island Hwy., 250/286-1017,
7am-8pm daily) for licenses, tackle, and maybe a few tips.
Accommodations
Because Campbell River is a fish-centric resort town, every kind of accommodation you
could possibly want is here, from campgrounds and RV parks to luxury hotels and exclus-
ive fishing lodges.
Anglers are of course welcome at all local accommodations, but at Painter's Lodge
(1625 MacDonald Rd., 250/598-3366 or 800/663-7090, www.painterslodge.com , Mar.-
Oct.) they are catered to especially. This grand property is built right on the water and
comes with a private marina and every facility a serious angler could ask for. Most guests
stay as part of a package (for example, $680 per person for three days, inclusive of flights
from Vancouver, accommodation, and two fishing trips), but you can also book a room for
a very reasonable $140 per night ($170 with a water view).
