Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park
Through downtown is a highlight of the valley, Filberg Heritage Lodge (Comox Ave. at
FilbergRd.,250/339-2715,8am-duskdaily).Ahighhedgehidesthepropertyfromtheout-
side world, but the grounds are open daily, and no admission is charged to wander through
the beautifully landscaped grounds, which stretch down to Comox Harbour. At the bottom
of the garden is the main house, built by a logging magnate in 1929. Filled with period an-
tiques and quirky architecture, it's open for inspection in summer 11am-3pm Wednesday-
Friday.
InearlyAugust,the Filberg Festival ( www.filbergfestival.com ) featuresgourmetfood,
free entertainment, and unique arts and crafts from the best of British Columbia's artisans.
Within the grounds, facing the water, is a small café (11am-3pm Wed.-Mon. summer,
$7-12), with picnic tables spread out under mature trees. A delightful setting more than
makes up for the uninspiring café fare.
