PRACTICALITIES
Many visitors own island getaways or rent cottages by the week, but there are still plenty
of options for shorter stays. Choices range from primitive tent sites to world-class lodges,
with bed-and-breakfasts—there are hundreds—falling somewhere in the middle price-
wise. Whatever your preference, make reservations for summer as far in advance as pos-
sible, especially for weekends. Be aware that many bed-and-breakfasts close through
winter, and some don't take credit or debit cards.
