MM Butchart Gardens
Carved from an abandoned quarry, the delightful Butchart Gardens (800 Benvenuto Dr.,
Brentwood Bay, 250/652-4422, www.butchartgardens.com ) are Victoria's best-known at-
traction. They're approximately 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) north of downtown. The gar-
densareopeneverydayoftheyearfrom9am,closing insummer at10pmandinwinter at
4pm, with varying closing hours in other seasons. Admission in summer is $30 for adults,
$15 for youth aged 13-17, and $3 for children aged 5-12; admission in winter is around 60
percent of those rates.
