665-3010, 10am-10pm daily). It is named for its benefactor, U.S. philanthropist Andrew
Carnegie, whose $50,000 donation went a long way toward its 1902 completion as Van-
couver's first permanent library.
Newspapers and Periodicals
Vancouver's two newspapers are The Province ( www.theprovince.com ) , published daily
except Saturday, and the Vancouver Sun ( www.vancouversun.com ) , published daily ex-
cept Sunday. Both are published by the same company, Postmedia Network
( www.canada.com ), with The Province more tabloid-driven than the Sun. Both are avail-
able at newsstands and vending machines throughout the city for less than a buck.
Canada's two national dailies, the Globe and Mail and the National Post, are both based
in Toronto but are readily available in Vancouver.
Many free publications are distributed throughout the city. The weekly Georgia
Straight ( www.straight.com ) features articles on local issues, as well as a full enter-
tainment rundown for the city. WE Vancouver ( www.wevancouver.com ) also a weekly,
spotlights downtown issues and has good restaurant reviews, and the monthly Common
Ground ( www.commonground.ca ) is dedicated to health and personal development.

Print processing from your memory cards is offered by dozens of outlets throughout Van-
couver. Two of the most reliable are London Drugs (call 604/872-8114 for the location
nearest to you), with branches throughout Metro Vancouver, and Lens and Shutter (2912
W. Broadway, 604/736-3461, 9:30am-6pm Mon.-Sat., noon-5pm Sun.). Leo's Cameras

and used camera equipment, with knowledgeable staff on hand to answer any questions.
Prices are competitive, especially for the newest camera models and accessories.

device from another country—you should be able to find parts, plugs, and adapters at
