On the north side of Burrard Inlet, M Salmon House on the Hill (2229 Folkstone Way,
West Vancouver, 604/926-3212, 10:30am-2:30pm Sat.-Sun. and 5pm-10pm daily, $28-39)

ley Park and the city center from its elevated mountainside location. The cavernous interi-
or is full of Northwest Coast native arts and crafts, including a dugout canoe suspended
over the main dining area. For an appetizer, the seafood chowder is my recommendation.
It's not a huge serving, but it is thick and delicious. Another good starter is the sample
platter of salmon prepared in various ways. The house specialty of salmon barbecued over
an open-flame, alderwood-fired grill is also hard to pass up. Lunch is a reasonable $14-23
for dishes such as smoked salmon sandwich with a dab of coleslaw on the side. The wine
