renovated two-story private residence. Naam boasts large servings, excellent service, and
an easygoing atmosphere that has become legendary.
WEST BROADWAY
Broadway runs parallel to 4th Avenue, which is five blocks farther south. The restaurants
listed here are farther east than those along West 4th Avenue and are generally less trendy,
appealing to those looking for value. This area of town also holds many outdoor clothing
and equipment shops, so if you have any money left from a shopping spree, the following
are perfect choices for lunch. The easiest way to get here by public transportation from
downtown is to catch the SkyTrain to Broadway and then jump aboard a westbound bus.
If you're after a really cheap meal, get off the bus at Kingsway (two blocks east of Main
Street, the beginning of West Broadway) and cross the road to Reno's (151 E. Broadway,
604/876-1119, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, $5-10), an old-style restaurant where diners
order at the cash register, sit at the counter or booths, and enjoy free newspapers and bot-
tomless coffee. Cooked breakfasts are $5.50, and a burger and fries is just $5.

One block north of West Broadway at Granville Street is M Vij's (1480 11th Ave., 604/

ants. Vikram Vij, the East Indian owner, is a master at combining the intense flavors of
his homeland with the tastes of his Vancouver customers, thereby creating a unique menu
