where single scoops cost from $3. A wide range of colorful Cows merchandise is also for
sale (check it out on the Cows website, www.cows.ca ) .
Indian
A Taste of India (1282 Robson St., 604/682-3894, 11am-midnight daily, $16-26) stands
out along this strip of fashionable boutiques and trendy cafés. The decor—complete with
plastic flowers—is nothing to write home about, but this restaurant is worth visiting for its
wide selection of traditional East Indian dishes at reasonable prices. Lunches are all under
$15, while the most expensive dinner entrée is a mixed grill of beef, lamb, and chicken.
Also on the menu are kebabs, over a dozen vegetarian specialties (such as a spicy potato
and cauliflower dish), and dishes from the Tandoori oven.
Italian
Self-described as a “dignified spaghetti joint,” Zefferelli's (1136 Robson St., 604/
687-0655,11:30am-10pm Mon.-Fri.,5pm-10pm Sat.-Sun., $16-28)dishes upsimple Itali-
an fare in a stylish room featuring a wine rack along one entire wall. The entrance is easy
to miss, as a narrow stairway leads up to the main dining room.
Named for a traditional Italian toast, CinCin (1154 Robson St., 604/688-7338,
5pm-11pm daily, $16.50-37) is a Mediterranean-style restaurant with an extremely loyal
local following. The centerpiece of the dining room is a large open kitchen, with a wood-
fired oven and a rotisserie in view of diners. The heated terrace fills up quickly and is
the place to watch the Robson Street action from above. The specialty is gourmet pizza,
but the oven is also used to cook dishes like a rack of lamb broiled in a rosemary marin-
ade. CinCin also does a wicked antipasti. This restaurant has been honored by dozens of
awards, including for its wine list, featuring more than 300 well-priced choices.
Market
AtthewestendofRobsonStreet, Whole Foods Market (1675RobsonSt.,604/687-5288,
8am-10pm daily) is a cavernous store selling groceries and premade meals for those who
are health conscious. Caper's also has an in-house bakery, deli, and juice bar.
