Generally regarded as one of the world's hippest hotels and last renovated in 2013,

imalist lobby. Rooms are decorated in distinct themes and come in a variety of configur-
ations, including one daring layout with the bathroom on the floor-to-ceiling windowed
outer wall. Check the website for discounts and packages, such as bed-and-breakfast and
back-to-bed (checkout is 3pm) for $300 d. From the in-room music collection linked to
your chosen theme to the front desk staff remembering your name, a stay at the Opus will
be memorable.
KITSILANO
Hip Kitsilano and its surrounding suburbs are Vancouver's most upscale residential neigh-
borhoods south of Burrard Inlet. Accommodations in this part of the city are nearly all
bed-and-breakfasts, and these are my favorites.
Under $100
If you're on a budget and don't need to stay right downtown, HI-Vancouver Jericho

The location is fantastic—in scenic and safe parkland behind Jericho Beach, across Eng-
lishBayfromdowntown,andlinkedtoextensivebikingandwalkingtrails.Insidethehuge
white building are separate dorms for men and women, rooms for couples and families, a
TV room, and communal kitchen. Additional amenities include a large café operated by
a local culinary school, bike rentals, wireless Internet access, lockers, left-luggage service
($5 a bag per week), free parking (limited), and a shuttle to the downtown hostel and rail/
bus station. To get there, take Northwest Marine Drive off 4th Avenue West and turn right
down Discovery Street at the arts center.
