False Creek, overlooks False Creek, a good 10-minute walk from the central business dis-
trict. It features a subtle Santa Fe-style decor, including a main lobby decorated with rugs,
pottery, and a huge fireplace. Facilities include a heated outdoor pool, restaurant, lounge,
and free wireless Internet. Rooms are elegantly furnished but not particularly large. The
one-bedroom suites, each with a full kitchen, are good value at $249, single or double.
Look for weekend packages on the hotel website that include two nights' accommodation
and meals for around $300 d. This property is also a good deal outside of summer, with
rooms going for around $150.
Two blocks closer to downtown is the seven-story, 245-room Holiday Inn Hotel
and Suites (1110 Howe St., 604/684-2151 or 800/663-9151,

spa, a kids' play room, a lounge, a café with market-style dishes to go, and a restaurant.
Last renovated in 2012, guest rooms come in a variety of configurations, but all are well
equipped, and as at Holiday Inns the world over, children stay and eat free. Outside of
summer, rooms are around half these prices, and $250 will get you the hotel's best suite.

Although not right downtown, modern M Sunset Inn & Suites (1111 Burnaby St., 604/

laundry, and a fitness room. The more expensive units have separate bedrooms.
Thebestreasontostayatthecontemporary Century Plaza Hotel & Spa (1015Burrard
St., 604/687-0575 or 800/663-1818, www.century-plaza.com , $250-600 s or d) is the Ab-
solute Spa, a favorite haunt of movie stars in Vancouver on location. Each of the 236
kitchen-equipped rooms is comfortable, but not as opulent as the spa facility. Other amen-
itiesincludeacafé,arestaurantspecializinginseafoodandlocalproduce,andlounge.De-
cent weekly rates and spa packages are also available.
