A plane with a simple contour (A) appears heavier (has more mass) than a plane with a complic-
ated contour (B). Both planes appear even lighter when they take on surface texture. The simple
plane with texture (C) appears lighter than the solid, more complicated plane; the textured, com-
plicated plane (D) appears lighter still.
