yellow increased; cyan increased again, yellow decreased, and magenta increased; yellow in-
creased slightly, black increased.
Similar to duotoning or tri-toning in spot color printing, an image might be colorized or toned
overall in four-color process, or CMYK , printing—called quadtoning. Because the image is being
produced using the four process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black), the possible color vari-
ation within a single image is endless, as indicated in this example. Further, different images with-
in the same project can be quadtoned in different ways.
