In-Depth Information
COMPLEMENTARY COLORS buzz when they get close to each other, and neutralize each other
when mixed. If you cover up the heart and blur your vision, you'll perceive a less intense olive
color where the pure red and green mix more evenly. The increase in red numbers in the heart
area appropriately changes its relative intensity.
Gunter Rambow Germany
Extension The relative volume of one color to another, so that each seems to have the same pres-
ence, is a relationship of extension. The volume of a given color needed to support another color
as equal in presence depends on its wavelength and intensity; nearly twice the volume of violet is
required to optically satisfy the presence of a given amount of yellow.
