In-Depth Information
THIS COLOR STUDY is interesting for its examination of relationships between warmer and cooler
colors as well as between analogous and complementary colors.

The color sphere, developed from earlier models by Swiss artist and theorist, Johannes
Itten, extrapolates the color wheel into a three-dimensional model. Shown here are
(A) the warm hemisphere of the sphere; (B) the cool hemisphere; (C) a cross-section
of the sphere, cut vertically between warm and cool hemispheres; and (D) a cross-sec-
tion cut horizontally, separating the top (lighter) half from the lower (darker) half—in
this cross-section, we're looking down at the bottom half.
