to distinguish the overall amplitude, reverberation, and the relative intensity atten-
uation of high frequencies (Naguib 1995 ). In this way this species has at least two
mechanisms available to assess ranging in a variable environment and to defend
territories efficiently in habitats with different sonic properties.
