Record structure
The next step of the wizard allows us to describe how the records appear in the file.
The first option
File contains only one record
allows us to process the file as a
single message. This can be useful when the file has multiple records, all of the
same format, which we want to read as a single message. Use of this option
disables batching.
The next option of
File contains multiple record instances
allows batching to take
place. Records are either of the same type or of different types. They can only be
marked of different types if they can be distinguished, based on the first field in
the record. In other words, in order to choose the
Multiple records are of different
types
, the first field in all the records must be a record type identifier. In the example
shown in the preceding screenshot, the first field is either an
H
for Header records or
an
R
for Records.
