JAPANESE
Don't let the drab exterior fool you: Taki Restaurant (5500 Victoria Ave., 905/357-7274,
www.niagaratakirestaurant.com , 11:30am-9:30pm daily, $23) is an authentic Japanese treat
inside. The fish is fresh, the menu comprehensive, and there's even a kid's platter. Save
room for the black sesame ice cream.
GREEK
In a world full of Greek diners, the KouTouki (5745 Ferry St., 905/354-6776,
www.koutoukiniagara.com , 11:30am-11pm daily, $21) is a genuine Greek restaurant. The
difference here is the focus on authentic Mediterranean food and wine. Located at the start
of the Lundy's Lane strip, this local gem is a nice break from the touristy chain restaurants.
Lunch is quick, tasty, and averages about $9.
MEXICAN
You'll find excellent “Fresh-Mex” at Frijoles (3465 Portage Rd., 289/296-3999,
www.frijolesfreshmex.com , 11am-8pm Mon.-Wed. and Sat., 11am-9pm Thurs.-Fri., $8).
“Fresh-Mex” is Mexican-inspired food with a touch of Southern California. Burritos and
tacos are made to order with your choice of beef, pork, chicken, fish, vegetables, beans, or
everythingmixedtogether.Thefoodhereishealthy,butyoucancheatabitbytryingoneof
theDoritoTacoBags.Alsorecommendedareanyoftheeighthomemadesalsasandsauces.
STEAK HOUSES
Ifyou'relookingforagreatsteakdinner,takeachanceon Lucky's Steakhouse (5705Falls
Ave., 905/374-3598, www.casinoniagara.com , 5pm-10pm Wed.-Sun., $35). Steaks, chops,
and prime ribs are the stars here, although seafood, chicken, and pasta are available. Con-
sider the 34-ounce porterhouse steak for two ($68) or the 16-ounce prime rib for $35. You
will not leave hungry. Lucky's is on the second floor of the Casino Niagara complex on
Falls Avenue.
