Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School of Horticulture
No matter what season you visit the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School
of Horticulture (2565 Niagara Pkwy., 905/356-8554, www.niagaraparks.com , dawn-dusk
daily, free), you'll find something in bloom. This 100-acre campus is home to Canada's
only residential horticultural school.
A creative and artistic perennial garden with seasonal plants in hanging baskets greets
you at the campus entrance. There are more than 3,000 species of flowers and plants, in-
cluding a Victorian rose garden with more than 2,400 rose plants. Horticulture enthusiasts
could easily spend an entire afternoon wandering the grounds, exploring the herb, rock,
shrub, lily, and vegetable gardens. Tree species include crab apples, conifers, spruce, dog-
wood, and Japanese maples.
A limited number of students are admitted to this prestigious college, and their hard
work and passion are evident in the lush and beautiful landscapes throughout the campus.
Roaming the grounds is free; parking for the gardens is $5.
