Pub fare, history, and a ghost are on the menu at the M Olde Angel Inn (224 Regent
St., 905/468-3411, www.angel-inn.com , 11am-1am daily, $17). This authentic British pub
serves pub grub, such as ploughman's lunch (traditional English midday meal of bread,
cheese, eggs, and beer) and shepherd's pie. The food is reasonably priced and served
promptly. The hand-hewn wood beams of the short ceiling and wood-burning fireplace feel
as if you're stepping into a pub in the misty English countryside. Olde Angel is reportedly
haunted bythe ghost ofColonel Colin Swayze, aBritish officer whowas killed byAmeric-
ansoldierswhilevisitinghisbeloved,awomanwhoworkedattheformerpubhere.Legend
has it that an apparition appears in the mirror of the ladies' restroom and that the taps of
American draft beers mysteriously open, causing the American beer to flow into the drain.

only. The food is fresh and prepared quickly while you wait. The menu is a good selection
