multimedia works of local artists and offers art classes, too. The building that houses the
artists is an old factory built in the 1880s, which provides the perfect industrial backdrop
for the labors of local artists. The art center has large interior spaces with brick walls, I-
beams, and large steel pipes. Artists who rent the spaces are involved with creating water-
color paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry, chainsaw sculptures, embroidery, quilting,
leatherwork, and finely crafted furniture.
Fine art pieces by local artists are found at the Kenan Center House Gallery (433 Lo-

in Lockport. The gallery hosts an eclectic array of works, including paintings, sculptures,
graphicdesigns,metalwork,pottery,andprints.TheKenanCenterisa25-acrecampusthat
includesthegallery,asportsarena,theater,andeducationalbuilding.Thegallerydatesback
to1858andwasthehomeofbusinessmanWilliamRandKenan.Aportionofthissprawling
Victorian-style building houses the gallery, while the rest is used for administrative offices.
