Celebrate the culture and contributions of local African Americans at the Juneteenth

on the Saturday and Sunday closest to June 15.
Occurring the second weekend of July, the Taste of Buffalo ( www.tasteofbuffalo.com )
is one of the largest two-day food festivals in the nation. Bring your appetite to Niagara
Square to enjoy samples from more than 200 vendors.
Some like it hot, others medium or mild. No matter how you like your wings, the Na-
tional Buffalo Wing Festival ( www.buffalowing.com ) in August fills Coca-Cola Field
(275 Washington St.) in downtown Buffalo with the best wings in the world during the last
weekend in August. To sound like a local, be sure to call them chicken wings, not Buffalo
wings.
At the Italian Heritage Festival ( www.buffaloitalianfestival.com ) in August, you can
mangi (eat) to your heart's content along Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo. During the four-
day festival, you can try your hand at bocce, grape stomping, and meet the winner of the
Miss Italian Festival contest.

shop's Star Theatre, you can sit down and enjoy brief videos about Buffalo and the sur-
rounding region.
