INFORMATION AND SERVICES
A handy source of information for the Niagara River region is the USA Chamber of
Commerce (895 Center St., Lewiston, 716/754-9500, www.niagarariverregion.com ,
8:30am-4:30pm Mon.-Fri.). The post office (150 S. 8th St., Lewiston, 716/754-8000) is
conveniently located one block south of Center Street.
There is a Tops supermarket (906 Center St., Lewiston, 716/215-1350,
www.topsmarkets.com , 5am-1am daily) and a CVS pharmacy (795 Center St., Lewiston,
716/754-2370, www.cvs.com , 8am-10pm daily) along the main street in the village.
In Youngstown, there is a Rite Aid Pharmacy (214 Lockport Rd., 716/745-3313) and a
supermarket, Melloni's (200 Lockport Rd., 716/219-4105, 7am-9pm daily). First Niagara
Bank (421 2nd St., 716/278-2424) has a 24-hour ATM.
GETTING THERE AND AROUND
Lewiston
Themunicipal bus service ( www.metro.nfta.com ) connectsLewistontothecityofNiagara
Falls, via Route 50. The fare for the 50-minute ride is $2 each way. There are several bus
stops along the main thoroughfare, Center Street.
Most visitors drive, accessing the village via I-190, Exit 25B. Those traveling from
Niagara Falls can take the more scenic Robert Moses Parkway that winds along the gorge
rim, a trip of about 20 minutes.
Once in Lewiston, you'll find the main thoroughfare, Center Street, very walkable, with
mostattractionsalongahalf-milestretch.Thereisampleparkingatboththeeastend(atthe
Topssupermarket)andwestend(WaterStreetmunicipal parkinglot)ofCenterStreet.Dur-
ing winter (Dec.-Mar.), street parking is not allowed 3am-6am to facilitate snow removal.
Youngstown
There are nomunicipal orcommercial buses that serve Youngstown, somost visitors arrive
in the village via car. The 14-mile, 25-minute trip from Niagara Falls is scenic, especially
if you take Robert Moses Parkway, exiting at Route 93 (Lockport Rd.), the last exit before
entering the state park at Old Fort Niagara.
Street parking in Youngstown is always available. The fort is more than a mile away
from the village, so it's best to drive to the fort and park there. Old Fort Niagara includes a
sprawling park and you'll do a lot of walking within the complex.
