daily May-Sept., $3-12) is a local institution and a place to take the family for hot dogs,
hamburgers, and a view of the Niagara River. Set in a renovated coal silo, this family res-
taurant is famous for the “haystack” ($12), one pound of rib-eye steak with melted mozza-
rella and toasted hash browns served on a large roll.
Just down the waterfront from the Silo Restaurant is Water Street Landing (115
S. Water St., 716/754-9200, www.waterstreetlanding.com , 11:30am-9pm Mon.-Fri.,
10am-11pm Sat.-Sun., $16-40), known for its waterfront view and ambience. The dining
room is quiet and a bit formal, while the patio and pub are relaxed, but busier. The food
and service are generally better in the dining room. Try the crab cakes remoulade appetizer
($10) for a tasty treat.

Tues.-Thurs., 4:30pm-10pm Fri.-Sat., $14-35) is regarded as the best restaurant in the vil-
