Weather Info
During the warm weather months - May to September, the north country boasts a wide vari-
ety of temperatures. Be prepared for everything from 1-30 deg C (35-90 deg F). We spent
most of the trip wearing t-shirts with light-weight hoodies in the evening, but on several oc-
casions needed to layer some turtle-necks under that. In the far north, at Deadhorse on the
Beaufort Sea, we basically wore everything we had with us plus hats and gloves.
There is lots of rain so be prepared for that with waterproof gear and umbrellas. Make sure
you bring an eye mask for sleeping because the summer solstice is on June 21 sty . This
means 19-20 hours of daylight through most of the north with 24 hours of daylight if you
are as far north as the Beaufort Sea. Ear plugs aren't a bad idea either - with all that daylight
parents cannot seem to get their kids settled down in the campgrounds so they are still tear-
ing around on their bikes at 3 am!
