Everyone seems to be here for the fishing - it is an obsession. It has been raining off and on
all day but they are sitting, standing or rowing around nonetheless. At one point a couple
of them got really excited about a five-foot shark said to be cruising just off shore.
Another 14 km /9 mi down the road we came to the Bonanza Beach Trailhead and took the
walk down to the water. This is another lovely beach with the most amazing rocks, layered
and striped. I must have collected 20 pounds of them in my pockets. The sea life here was
equally amazing, an astounding number and variety of jellyfish were marooned in the tidal
pools.
We woke up at Rennell Sound the next morning to POUNDING rain. I had some concerns
aboutmakingitbackupthe28%gradehillthatwasbetweenusandcivilizationbutnowor-
ries. The truck just chugged on up. Back in Queen Charlotte City we had to make friends
with the car wash again, but it was the cheapest wash yet. We were able to do the whole
truck for $4.

looking for an alternative. The only one we could come up with was a $12/person shower
in a private hostel. I took one look at the filthy scummy shower stall and decided that I was
cleaner without the shower. At the Visitor's Center I'd noticed private bathrooms. We took
our shower gear in there, filled up the sink and had a sink bath and hair wash. Not perfect,
but much improved. And the price was right.
