In-Depth Information
Returning a few miles, we park on a promontory overlooking the lake into which the gla-
cier calves. It's no longer quiet as the glacier grinds forward, massive ice shards exploding
into the lake below. It is magnificent.
We put the kettle on and pull out the folding chairs; home for the night.
When we returned to civilization the next day we were asked, “Did you see the grizzlies?
Four of them live up there.” No, sadly we did not. I did go for a walk in the morning and
saw a huge paw print in the soft dirt at the side of the road so perhaps we were investigated
in the night. But no visuals on that.
