Driving Tips
 A valid driver's license from your own country (in English, otherwise an Interna-
tional Driver's License PLUS your own country's license) and proof of auto insurance are
required.
 All occupants of a vehicle must be buckled into their own seatbelt. Children must
be buckled into an age/weight appropriate car seat or booster seat.
Helmets are required for cyclists and motorcyclists.
 When emergency vehicles are on the road (police, fire, ambulance) you must pull
over and wait for them to pass.
 In Alaska you are required to drive with headlights on ½ hour after sunset and
½ hour before sunrise or whenever low-light conditions make it difficult to see 1000 feet
ahead.
 In Canada all vehicles made after 1989 are required to have daytime running
lights. If your US vehicle does not have daytime running lights you must drive with your
lights on at all times.
 On two-lane roads outside urban areas in Alaska, you must pull over if there are
five or more vehicles behind you.
 Drinking and driving laws are strictly upheld with enforcement beginning at a .05
blood level.
 Slow down when passing someone on gravel - the faster you go the more likely
those spinning rocks will break the windshield.
