For us, this journey began in Vancouver, the first major city after the Interstate 5 crosses the
US border into Canada. Our most northerly destination in Alaska was Prudhoe Bay, on the
Beaufort Sea. In Canada our most northerly destination was Inuvik on the Mackenzie Delta
of the Northwest Territories.
This trip was taken over six weeks during July and August. Gas prices are so volatile I am
not going to quote the exact amounts paid, but for comparison, the most expensive price
paid was in the Canadian Yukon. The price per litre there was about 35% higher than in Van-
couver, BC. In Alaska, the gas through most of the state was about 40% higher than what it
was in Washington state at the same time.
