picturesque ponds. Ice wedge polygons is the name for geometric ridges that have been
forced up when water seeps into cracks then freezes. We see a lot of these.
But with regard to the landscape, my most enduring memory is probably that of bright
purple fireweed skirting the road, dancing through the boreal forests, carpeting the fields
into the horizon.
