come at the kennels where rangers demonstrate, hooking the dogs to a wheeled sled so they
can tear around the park with the ranger hanging on for dear life.
These dogs are beautiful but the term “high strung” is an understatement. When the ranger
pulled them out to be harnessed onto the sled they were literally frenzied with excitement.
They live to run.
The Visitor Centre is also worth a visit with lots of natural history type stuff to look at and
touch. I learned a lot about the people and the animals that have survived and thrived on
this land. I found the display of bear scat pretty interesting. As the seasons and their food
source changes, their diet transitions from carnivorous to vegetarian. The scat reflects that.
Reminded me of the baby book I pored over during my first jaunt with motherhood. The
book featured full colour pictures of newborn baby poop - a high yuck factor for many, but
not for a terrified new mom.
We took lunch at the Visitor Center restaurant. It was awful - dry and unpalatable burger,
greasy fries and no condiments on the burger - squeeze them out of itty bitty plastic pack-
