In-Depth Information
new traffic roundabout in Waterloo Road. The Gothic arch, a genuine one, was below the
premises occupied by a pawnbroker. Years ago, the house was occupied by an architect I
have already mentioned - L.N. Cottingham, designer of terraces and iron balconies. Cot-
tingham was extensively employed as a 'restorer' of old churches, and from these restora-
tions, he assembled a rich collection of carving in wood and stone, stained glass, and other
church fittings, which ought, of course, to have been left intact. No doubt, all these restor-
er's relics will be swept away long before this topic is published.
