In-Depth Information
Soon you'll cross three typically dry rubble-strewn gullies (4.1 miles, 1800'),
whose confluence lies 100 feet downslope. In winter, water plunges from adjacent
marble faces, misting the surrounding greenery. Beyond the next dry redwood gully,
the trail contours north and enters dense forest a quarter mile from Hare Creek. Sever-
al notably large redwoods mark your arrival at Vicente Flat.
A few feet past the creek, a spur cuts upstream to Vicente Flat Camp. Poison
oak is less of a concern along this well-used stretch. The main trail continues a few
yards to the Stone Ridge Trail junction (5.2 miles, 1620') and 0.1 mile beyond to the
camp's lower reaches. See TRIP 64 Vicente Flat Trail for a description of camp.
