The road's fate is uncertain. Los Padres National Forest officials proposed to re-
move landslide debris and perform road maintenance to reopen the road. Opposition
from environmental organizations, including the Ventana Wilderness Alliance and the
Center for Biological Diversity, sought to have the problematic road either closed to
vehicle traffic entirely or restored with less impact to the Arroyo Seco watershed.
