In-Depth Information
A quick 100-foot stroll upstream from camp lies a waterfall oasis, widely con-
sidered one of the most beautiful spots in the Ventana Wilderness. You'll arrive at
a deeply eroded marble gorge that enfolds a deep emerald swimming hole. At best,
the water reaches the mid-50s Fahrenheit, making your swim brisk, refreshing, and
likely brief. The midday to early afternoon sun warms the pool and adjacent boulders,
though this may not be sufficient heat following your chilly swim. Return to camp to
warm up.
If you're venturing farther along the Little Sur Trail to Bottchers Gap or the
Manuel Peak Trail, refer to the following trip description. To reach the Manuel Peak
Trail junction, continue 1.2 miles past the camp along the Little Sur Trail (see TRIP
42 Manuel Peak & Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park ).
