Feel the raw elements of fog, wind, and sunshine along the jutting coastal cliffs within
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
DIRECTIONS: The park entrance is on the east side of Highway 1, 37 miles south
of the Carmel Valley Road (County Road G16) junction in Carmel and 11 miles south
of Big Sur State Park.
VISITOR CENTER: Big Sur Station: (831) 667-2315. The station is on Highway
1, 10 miles north of the park entrance. Open daily 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Memorial Day
through Labor Day, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. the rest of the year.
NEAREST CAMPGROUND: The park's walk-in campground lies on the south
side of the McWay Falls promontory, 0.3 mile from the parking lot. Two primitive
sites ($30/night; reservations required) hold a maximum of eight people each. For

INFORMATION: Open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. There is a $10 day-use fee. Restrooms and
water are available at the parking lot. No pets allowed except seeing-eye dogs.
