The topics of video resolutions, aspect ratios, and different DVD and digital video standards are vast, and
there is much disagreement and misunderstanding about it, even among longtime professionals. The truth
is that unless you are watching a fi nal production on well calibrated video equipment and use measure-
ment tools, the instructions provided here will give you a result that is more than good enough. For peo-
ple determined to be psychotic about these things, I have found this web page particularly instructive:

NOTE
When preparing a fi le for DVD authoring, include the audio in the PCM format.
If you are rerendering your animation for inclusion on a DVD and it requires you to change your aspect ratio
and resolution settings, take care to preview your renders. Any backgrounds that you rendered at different
settings will not match the new renders and therefore will not composite properly. While this sort of remas-
tering can be a giant pain if DVD was not your initial target, it is worth it for the increase in quality you will
see in your fi nal product. Of course, if you're just putting it on DVD so your Aunt Ethel who doesn't own a
computer can see it, take your best resolution animation fi le, feed it to your DVD authoring program, and let
it do its less-than-ideal magic.
Summary
When creating the completed edit of your animation, the rendered frames from each shot are fi rst brought
into separate Scenes for color correction and special effects, then they are added to the Sequence Editor as
Scene strips for fi nal composition. The compositor can be used at this stage to balance color and brightness
across different shots and to add overall effects such as glow or sharpening. Although it should be fairly well
refi ned by now, timing and the exact starting and ending of the shot can still be adjusted. The per-shot dialog
fi les are added to the Sequence along with both live and library sound effects.
