In-Depth Information
If you need to get fancy and have portions of the audio increase or decrease in volume so they blend properly with
overlapping sounds, you can use the Ipo editor to get exacting control over the volume of the sound. To do this,
you need to show the Sequence Editor, a buttons window, and the Ipo Editor at the same time, like Figure 12.9.

Preparing to add a volume Ipo curve
With the audio strip selected:
1. Set the Ipo Editor to view
Sequence
curves.
2. Click the
Ipo Frame Locked
button on the
Edit
panel of the
Sequence buttons
. This displays a
small outline in the Ipo Editor that represents the
area of the audio strip.
3. Hold down the
Ctrl
key while left mouse button
clicking in the Ipo Editor. This creates key points
and a curve in the editor. The
Y-axis
controls the
volume, with 1.0 being the normal, unaffected vol-
ume and 0.0 being complete silence. Figure 12.10
demonstrates the volume changing from full (1.0) to
nothing (0.0) over the course of the strip.
One last technique you can use is to alter the
Pan
value
in the
Filter
panel of the
Sequence
buttons.
