In-Depth Information
Viewing SQL Monitor from Enterprise Manager
Log in to Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control and select a database target that resides on Exadata.
By default, the main database page will display a SQL Monitor window similar to Figure
14-8
.
Figure 14-8.
SQL Monitor pane from database target landing page
The rightmost column in Figure
14-8
shows the database time per SQL ID and can be used to determine
which SQL statements are consuming the most time. From this SQL Monitor window, click a specific SQL ID to
drill down into the performance aspects of the SQL cursor. After selecting a SQL ID, you will be presented with
the
Monitored SQL Execution Details
page. The Overview panes, displayed in Figure
14-9
, show summarized
statistics for the SQL execution. In Figure
14-9
, we are mousing over the purple area in the
Wait Activity %
section to show the percentage of time spent waiting on smart scans.

Monitored SQL execution details
Below the Overview section, you will see the execution plan for the SQL statement, which we will cover in the
next section.
Viewing Monitored SQL Executions and Execution Details
Navigate to the
Performance - Performance Home
page for a specific instance or cluster and then click on
the SQL Monitoring link to open the
Monitored SQL Executions
window. Alternatively, navigate directly to the
Performance-SQL Monitoring
page from the main database target window. Regardless of how you access
the
Monitored SQL Executions
window, this page differs from the example in the previous section because from
here, you can see Real Time SQL Monitoring details, not historical SQL Monitor data. Figure
14-10
displays the
Monitored SQL Executions window.
