Note: Minecraft Realms
By the time you read this, the new Minecraft Realms service should be
online. Realms is a subscription service that provides an easy way for
families or groups of friends to host small co-operative servers of up to
20 players. While it's easy enough to set up a LAN game if you're all on
the same network, Realms works across the broader internet so players
can get together from all over the world. Interestingly, the Pocket Edi-
tion also supports Realms with the goal of supporting up to 10 players
per server, but the Pocket and Xbox 360 editions cannot join other mul-
tiplayer servers.
The first thing you should do is to locate an actual server. There are literally thousands to
choosefrom,andsitessuchas planetminecraft.com and minecraftservers.org doagreatjob
of keeping a complete database running. Some servers are open to one and all while others
require registration. Most are free to some extent, although paid subscriptions may provide
access to use otherwise full servers and give you other benefits.
Join a multiplayer server with these steps:
1. Click on Multiplayer in the title screen.
