Create an obsidian frame with an inner dimension that is three blocks high by two
blocks wide (see
Figure 12.3
)
. The corner blocks can be made from any material.
The frame must be vertical, either free-standing, or built directly into any type of
wall including a natural cliff face.

Caution:
Portals Are a Double-Edged Sword
Once you've built a portal, a second appears in The Nether. Neither be-
longs to you exclusively, and they allow other mobs to travel back and
forth, so expect to see quite a few more zombie pigmen in The Over-
world in the near future. (They can even spawn near them in The Over-
world without coming from The Nether.)

Use a flint and steel to light the top of either of the two bottom blocks. You see the
interior spring to life with a shimmering blue and purple transparent texture, as
shown in
Figure 12.4
