rent feeding directly into the base block under the pistons. Without them, the wiring
would revert to a lattice and stop working.
Vertical Currents
Although redstone wiring can easily climb and descend steps, there are times you'll want
to send it vertically instead. The easiest way to do this is to use an alternating series of red-
stone torches, ensuring the final one is in sync (not inverting) with the current at the base
of the tower. See Figure 9.18 for an example.
