Note: Placing Signs

Dining table —Create a table by placing a single fence block, which becomes the
stand. Then place a pressure plate on top of the post to form the table's surface.
Pressure plates don't create a seamless surface, so for larger tables consider using
squares of carpet instead. Surround the table with a few chairs to complete the pic-
ture. If you make a giant dining table, use regular blocks and then place pressure
plates or carpet as placemats. Remove some squares of the table's surface, and pop
some cake down in their place to finish the picture, as shown in Figure 8.4 .

Beds —Think of the standard Minecraft bed as just the starting point. Put two side
by side for a double, or make a king size bed out of three and some blocks behind
for a headboard. Then place some slabs at the foot to get the proportions right.
Bedside table —Use a standard construction or wood block or a book-
case—anything that matches your color scheme. Then put a torch on top in the
middle of the block. The torch will burn permanently, but if you put a redstone
torch in the middle and then a lever on the side of the block, you'll have a light
