In-Depth Information
FIGURE 7.3 Love is in the air for this Miss (or Mister) Piggy.
Breeding two sheep whose wool is dyed results in an offspring of the same color. (If the
parents are different colors, the offspring's color is randomly chosen as one of the parent's
coloring, although some combinations produce a new color.) Dyed wool is used to make
colored carpet, so use sheep breeding to generate as much as you need without having to
source more dye. It's also possible to dye leather armor and hardened clay, a useful blast-
resistant building material made from clay blocks.
Note: Dying for Dye?
Minecraft has 16 dye colors made from a combination of original mater-
ials and crafting. For example, place a rose on the crafting table to get
rose red dye. A dandelion produces yellow dye. The Lapis Lazuli ore
produces a deep blue dye, and cocoa beans produce brown dye. Com-
bine Lapis Luzuli dye with bone meal to create a light blue dye. While
wool and stained clay are limited to the 16 dyes available, armor can be
stained using any combination of dyes. An internal formula mixes them
up to produce a new color.
