Sprinting while hitting also knocks back the target, a vital move for attacking creepers, but
not so good against skeletons because it gives them time to line up another shot.
The sword is unique among all weapons because it also provides a blocking move. Right-
clicktoblockanyattack,eitherdirectorranged,ifyoucanspotthatarroworfireballhead-
ingyourwayintime.Thisprovidesanupto50%damagereductionattheexpenseofdrop-
ping your speed to a crawl, so block at the last possible moment or in tight corners where
there isn't enough room for the usual evasive maneuvers.
Bows and Arrows
A fully charged bow deals more damage than an unenchanted diamond sword, making
them very powerful weapons. Bows and arrows also enable you to attack from a distance,
givingskeletonsadoseoftheirownmedicine andkeepingyouwellclearofcreeperdeton-
ation range.
