3.3.3 Demonstrating Receptor-specific Uptake using
Hyaluronic Acid-based Particles and Small Interfering
Ribonucleic Acid
With their cholanic acid conjugated HA derivatives, Choi and
co-workers, demonstrated specific cell uptake in CD44 expressing
cells [7]. When they treated the CD44-over expressing squamous
cell carcinoma (SCC7) cells with fluorescently-labelled Cyanine 5.5
(Cy5.5) NP, they detected strong signals in the cytosol suggesting
efficient intracellular uptake by a receptor-mediated pathway. In
