Figure 5-5. Shopping cart states
Here's an explanation of each state:
active
In this state, the user is active and items may be added or removed from the shopping cart.
pending
In this state, the cart is being checked out, but payment has not yet been captured. Items
may not be added or removed from the cart at this time.
expiring
In this state, the cart has been inactive for too long and it is “locked” while its items are
returned to available inventory.
expired
In this state, the shopping cart is inactive and unavailable. If the user returns, a new cart
must be created.
