The device consisted of eight stationary AMR beds and a rotating modi
ed Halbach
magnet assembly. The magnet assembly had four 2.4 T magnetic
eld areas.
A special feature of the device is the hydraulic connections of the AMR beds. Eight
AMR beds were separated in two parts. Each four beds were hydraulically con-
nected in series. In this manner,
ow through all four beds between the
heat exchangers. Furthermore, an important focus was also given to the reduction of
thermal losses related to the hot and cold

uid circuits. However, the conclusion
was that the researchers needed to conduct additional analyses of the heat transfer in
regenerators and to study different magnetocaloric materials before the initial tests
of the prototype performance were carried out.
